Szakdolgozatok feltöltése – 2011. november

Az idei félévben a szakdolgozatok leadási határideje 2011. november 30., szerda, 15.00. Ennek megfelelően intézetünkben a BA és MA szakdolgozatok elektronikus verzióinak feltöltési határideje is ugyanez. Azok a hallgatók, akik a korábbi félévek során nem regisztráltak a feltöltő rendszer használatára, 2011. november 4-től megtehetik az “Online szakdolgozat feltöltés – hallgatói tájékoztatóban” foglaltak szerint. A már korábban regisztrált, illetve az IEAS Apps fiókkal rendelkező  hallgatók a meglévő belépési adatok megadásával tudják a szakdolgozat feltöltését kezdeményezni. A szakdolgozatok feltöltése 2011. november 15-én kedden indul – a szakdolgozati szabályzatban foglaltak szerint a BA szakdolgozatokat a http://www.ieas-szeged.hu/bat-uploader/, az MA szakdolgozatokat pedig a http://www.ieas-szeged.hu/mat-uploader/ címen lehet feltölteni.

AMERICANA – Vol. VII., No. 2., out now!

The latest issue of AMERICANA – E-Journal of American Studies in Hungary, Volume VII, Number 2, Fall 2011, guest edited by Gabriella Varró and Zoltán Simon is out now. As the editors write in their introduction to the issue, it is the continuation of “[t]he previous issue of AMERICANA (Volume VII, Number 1), published in Spring 2011, guest edited by Gabriella Varró and Lenke Németh, [which ] was the first proceedings volume of the 8th Biennial Conference of the Hungarian Association for American Studies (HAAS 8), held in Debrecen, Hungary, in November 2010,” the broader theme of which was “Images of America.” This issue brings an astounding number of “17 papers that follow are more heterogeneous, addressing a smorgasbord of topics that nevertheless, when taken collectively, well represent the diversity of responses to the changing social, cultural and literary landscape, with the North American continent in the focus.”

Virtual Reality GIS, Qualitative GIS, and the Future(s) of Geographic Information Science

The Institute of English and American Studies of the University of Szeged will host a special interactive online public lecture by Dr. Trevor M. Harris (West Virginia University) on “Virtual Reality GIS, Qualitative GIS, and the Future(s) of Geographic Information Science” at 16:30, Thursday, November 10, in Room 2 (Petőfi Ave. bldg., second floor)

Trevor M. Harris is Eberly Distinguished Professor of Geography at West Virginia University. He is widely considered a pioneer and a leading expert in immersive learning with the assistance of computer mapping and other leading-edge digital technologies, including virtual environments.

This lecture is being co-sponsored by the Fulbright Program in the US, the Hungarian Fulbright Commission, West Virginia University, and the University of Szeged.

The lecture should interest students and faculty in the humanities, geography, and a wide range of social scientists. While the lecture will involve experimentation with Internet connections common both to the University of Szeged and West Virginia University, those attending will be able to interact with the lecturer or ask questions at the close of the lecture.
